Just curious, how old is everyone? I'm 24 now and I remember watching Chip n Dale Rescue rangers when I was like in kindergarten-first grade (before I moved to Canada which was 2nd-4th grade). I'd come home from school (across the street) in time for Disney Afternoon, but Rescue Rangers was definitely my favorite cartoon out of them all.

It's amazing how popular it is still and I am just getting into the loop of all this fandom! Reading history about CDRR wars, emergence of pros, anti and neutrals, popular fan-made characters and contents. . . It's amazing how something can keep going even after almost 20 years.

Reason why I ask is that I have this assumption that most on this forum are within my age range, and possibly a lot older, but if it had been constantly airing on cable (although it was showing at 2 or 3 am on toon disney during my college years), are there any fans that are more young than I could imagine? With the crappy American cartoons they have now, and the slowly infectious Anime influencing American media, are there still RR fans that fall into the kids of this generation? Also I didn't get internet till my middle school days, when 56kbps was at its peak, so I imagine the older people on this forums witnessed a lot of the fandom history as it went starting with their 16kbps modems.

Amen to that, tone!

This will be an interesting little poll. I can immediately think of 2 who go in the "16 and under" that are here at the Cafe. As far as the show airing, we were fortunate enough to have it on Toon Disney up until a few months ago. It was on at noon for quite a while...which is prime time for young children! :D

As many are now aware, I'm 39 years old and going strong. We have a very diverse age range here at the Cafe, and I've never felt that age per se was the telling factor of who was a Rangerphile. I was 20 when RR came out, so it's been with me nearly half my life now.

My sophomore year at college was a lonely one, and the Rangers helped make it feel less so. I was big into the Indiana Jones merchandise collecting then, and Chip was who appealed to me first with that outfit. Then I noticed Gadget and had the requisite crush on her for a while. Neither of those things was why I came to the fandom, though--it was a love for the show, the funny bits, the great use of character, etc.

I've always loved good stories, and they start with good characters. I have a lot of my own creative spark that I owe to writing RR fanfiction, which is why I try to write at least one a year to keep that going. I'll probably be writing them forty years from now :-)

21 years old.

My first memories of CDRR are from sitting in my grandparents' living room watching Disney Afternoon when I was about 4 or 5; since we didn't have any real TV reception, we had to watch it there. Then it was taken off in 1993 and I didn't see it again until 1996 when we got Dish Network and with it the Disney Channel. We had it for two years before getting a different channel package - minus the Disney Channel - but not before I taped several episodes onto VHS. I watched those off and on for several years before becoming interested in other things - Halo, being the main one. :D

Then, August of 2007, I was bored and discovered Of Mice and Mayhem, I was hooked for good this time. Two days later I started my first fanfic and scoured YouTube for episodes to re-familiarize myself with the show and I have going ever since.

And we'll be happily reading them then just as we are now. :f-smile:

Interesting choice for a poll tonefour, it'll be fun to watch it develop. I'm currently in the 23-25 category and I remember originally watching it on TV those many years ago. I too am just getting in the loop of the fan community, but it is certainly a testament to the quality of the show and the depth of the characters that it has maintained its popularity for 20 years now. I also remember finding it again after a discussion with friends about our favorite shows and then looking it up on Youtube (I should look into getting the DVDs at some point). I'm not sure what specifically it is about the show for me that gives it its enduring entertainment, but I think it does have something to do (as the Dr. just above mentioned) with the good stories and the good characters. The community and the fanfics have only worked to improve on that point.

I'm 23 as is prominently displayed in my info and I was a fan when the Rangers first aired here in 1991. I loved the fast pace and interesting stories. I loved the inventions. The characters had this something in them, though I wasn't aware of romantic scenes so much and what they meant back then. When I went to secondary school my interest in the show became almost non-existent as I had a lot to do and so for about six years I completely forgot about them (though I recall finding Gadget's Wikipedia page and some artwork in a google search at least once). Then, less than two years ago, the impulse came. I was scourging the net for webcomics and stumbled upon OMaM, which I devoured within a single night and immediately fell in love with (not to mention I also got a crush on Gadget and became an avid Pro). Absolutely awesome story and familiar characters sparkled some long forgotten circuit in my brain and I began searching for CDRR material. After some time I came here and joined within a month. Then the period of rapid reading began as I went through The Rescue Rangers' Headquarters material and the Story Board. It all inspired me to start writing, get back to drawing and begin crafting altogether. I predict I'll still be going 20 years from now. :D

Amma 22 and what i shall say except of what's being said...

My journey was similiar to Sinclairs just that i've found OMAM after and not before i've found the Cafe.

Im 28. There used to be only adults when I joined the Acorn Cafe, now its full of childreen. I suppose the rules can be applied now.

I can't remember exacly the year the RRs were broadcasted in Mexico but at that time, for me it was just aonther cartoon. It was until two years ago that Loneheart's "Gaget in Chains" got me in to liking them.

I'm also 19. I remember watching CDRR on the Disney Channel at my grandparents, we didn't have cable, they did. So every summer or so when we were up in Seattle at their place (I lived in Utah at the time) I'd watch it now and then. I liked it then but had forgotten about it for years. Then through a discussion with my then girlfriend last fall I kind of rediscovered it (we were talking about childhood crushes and I couldn't remember Gadget's full name). I watched a couple episodes on youtube, fell in love with it again, and then found "Of Mice and Mayhem." That not only got me into the fandom but also made me an adamant pro. Then I found the Ranger Wiki, and Acorn Cafe, joined both and the rest is history!

I joined an Alvin and the Chipmunks forum in 2000 where I met Charles Williams, Pi-Chi and heard about the Acorn Cafe. I saw the works of Charles Williams and other artists at the Foxglove Feature. Knowing some of the old guard, I would hear bits and pieces about what goes on in the Acorn Cafe. Over the years I would visit the Cafe from time to time until I became a member.

If I joined the Cafe when I first heard of it, I would have done so at the age of fourteen and would have been a member of the old guard.

wow such amazingness! I wish I put more thought into the poll but I was in a rush and didn't have time to figure out the calculations of it.

So based on my generation, or I should say my year (plus or minus a few years), it was typical for the highschooler to not be watching cartoons anymore. (this was around the late 90s into 2000s). Is that somewhat true for the late 80's and early 90s when CDRR was initially aired? Meaning, if you were roughly starting or in highschool when you were watching CDRR, was the majority of your class also watched CDRR or already fazed away from cartoons? Because I do realize that the 90s could of been an exception since so many great cartoons came out during that decade. Then again, maybe my assumption that most CDRR memorialia and fandom were probably elementary tikes, or even middleschoolers when watching the initial air of 1989-1993.

I wonder if I would of joined in my highschool years. I wasn't a real big fandom type of person, where I'd get consumed by the things I were a fan to. But also I don't think I would have loved CDRR as much in highschool as I do now. I'm hitting the quarter life crisis! *insert sarcasm for that comment* I've been trying to rebuild my past years by frantically obtaining what amused me. All my memories go to the 90s *sigh*
